Free Chat Friday, Week 38

Happy Friday, News Viewers, and on this day, at this very instant, it’s 59 degrees outside. 59 glorious degrees — I even have my ratty old good luck sweater on, the gray one that keeps getting longer and rattier. . . .The AC is off and the doors are open because. . . .cross breeze. :-). . . . .

Tomorrow is the Autumnal Equinox, and days start getting shorter, until about March 20, 2024, when the Vernal Equinox brings us the Spring and days start getting longer. In other words, all year, every day, the sun and the earth relate differently to each other — the distance, perspective, result or outcome of all this planetary moving around. The Equinox is the one day equality is near, equality of sun and shadow, but it’s never exact, because let’s face it — what happens on earth, in space, and in the middle of a cross breeze wearing a ratty sweater — it’s messy. Uneven, disorienting, not always neat and somewhat ragged.

And so today, as we watch while our legislature becomes the “Lord of the Flies,” while our news media generates Fan fiction, our decisions regarding foreign influences (e.g.wars, borders) become “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and our daily lives and encounters become “Where the Wild Things Are,” we know the score. This is planetary, cyclical, repetitive, messy and precise only after the fact. Bigger than we are. As the saying goes, “Relax. What will it matter in a river of centuries?” 😄 We put it in perspective or we cry trying.. . .

It’s Friday, this is free chat, this is all topics all the time, within reason. Community guidelines are simple and facilitate good discussions, so they make sense in a world where not much else does. Pretty comforting, those guidelines, n’est pas?

As we start this unpredictable day, wearing our comfy ratty clothes, standing in a room on a planet slowly moving, tell us what’s going on in your world — always using the wise sayings we have gotten from the tech gawd, the Internet, as your North Star., “”Relax. Nothing is under control.”

Who will be Trump' running mate?
