Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital surrounded by IDF, cut off, no fuel, patients die

ABC News reports “At least three premature babies have died at the Al-Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip when a missile struck nearby and shut down the medical facility’s backup generator, according to Dr. Ahmed Mokhallalti, the chief plastic surgeon at the hospital. He told ABC News that the babies died when the power to their incubators was cut off Friday night into Saturday morning.

NBC updates report that “More than 1.6 million people have been displaced in Gaza, and health officials there say more than 11,000 have been killed. Israel says 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas terrorist attack Oct. 7, with 239 people still held hostage in Gaza.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told NBC News’ “Meet the Press” yesterday that there “could be” a deal to free hostages held by Hamas. But his military’s campaign on the ground in Gaza has added to the uncertainty of fragile talks.
