Absent from court, Donald Trump finds a voice in defense attorney Alina Habba

Trump’s PACs have paid Habba’s law firm over $3.5 million, according to records

Background, from ABC:

“After working as a merchandiser at fashion company Marc Jacobs for two years, Habba attended Widener University Commonwealth Law School in Pennsylvania, graduating in 2011. She served a yearlong clerkship with then-New Jersey Superior Court Judge Eugene Codey Jr. then worked in private practice for eight years at two separate firms before starting her own practice in 2020, focusing on civil and commercial litigation:

Habba’s cases for Trump have resulted in a mixed record. She received praise from Trump after Summer Zervos, a former “Apprentice” contestant who accused the former president of sexual assault, dropped her defamation case against Trump. But when Habba filed a lawsuit claiming that Hillary Clinton and others conspired to damage Trump’s reputation, the judge overseeing the case dismissed the suit, accused Trump of “using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries,” and fined Trump and Habba nearly $1 million.

According to The Washington Post, Habba’s experience includes working as general counsel for a parking garage firm and representing Siggy Flicker, a cast member of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey.” The suit was filed against Facebook, which is said to have disabled Flicker’s account after she posted a photo of Melania Trump to greet the former first lady on her birthday (via Habba Madaio)

Per The List, ” As Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba’s job is to represent him in court. However, she also support Trump’s political aspirations. On Habba’s Instagram she supports the Make America Great Againincampaign. In October 2023, she shared a photograph of herself posing with a Republican rapper. The caption of her photo read “[Lil Pump] is all in on Trump. #MAGA LFG.” She later followed this post up with a picture of herself with Trump, captioned: “Our country is in shambles. Are you awake yet?

Habba has made her politics known by becoming a senior advisor for the MAGA, Inc. PAC that raises money for Trump’s campaigns. In this capacity, she has served as a spokesperson for the fundraising organization, even appearing on Newsmax to discuss advertising strategy. A Bloomberg rep noted Trump consults her on “legal matters [and] political issues.

Regardless of MAGA politics, Habba recently revealed her complete lack of competence as an attorney by blasting to the media that she would not advise Donald to accept a plea dead offered by Letitia James. Can we say “Game Over”?

And in her own words “And if we don’t stop corruption in courtrooms where attorneys are gagged, where attorneys are not allowed to say what they need to say to protect their clients’ interests, it doesn’t matter what your politics are,” she said. “But I was told to sit down today. I was yelled at, and I’ve had a judge who is unhinged slamming a table. Let me be very clear, I don’t tolerate that in my life,” she added. “I’m not going to tolerate it here.” (Raw Story)
