The former *resident thinks he has solved the abortion dilemma with a statement he thinks will please everyone — after bragging about appointed Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.
In a new video posted Monday morning to Truth Social, Trump, who still sees himself as the greatest dealmaker that ever lived, took credit for the overturning of Roe v. Wade and said it is “now up to the states to do the right thing.”
Trump had promised a bigly statement on abortion last week, as a six-week abortion ban in Florida was set to take place.
On Sunday, he sent out a teaser that appeared to soften the upcoming blow for pro-life hardliners, and warning that a compromise would be essential to win the election and “save” the nation.
Trump has blamed the GOP’s hardline rhetoric on abortion for their 2022 midterm shortcomings. Trump blamed the “abortion issue” on others, saying it was “poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions.”
Over the past year, Trump has dodged questions about a national abortion ban, and more recently said there appeared to be consensus forming around a federal ban after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
