Comments made in 2021 by Vice Presidential Nominee J.D. Vance are going viral after Hillary Clinton shared the clip on X.
"We're effectively run in this country via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices they've made," Vance told Tucker Carlson. "So they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too. It is a basic fact. Look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC, the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children. How does it make any sense we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"
Vance also in 2021 promoted an idea to allow parents to cast ballots on behalf of their children, saying during a speech at the conservative nonprofit Intercollegiate Studies Institute in Virginia that people who don’t have children “don’t have as much of an investment in the future of the country.”
“When you go to the polls in this country as a parent, you should have more power, you should have more of an availability to speak your voice in our democratic republic than people who don’t have kids,” he said.
The blowback may be just another sign of trouble for the Trump ticket’s troubles appealing to women voters, and on the issue of reproductive rights.
And women voters may not be the only ones having trouble with JD’s worldview.
Buttigieg and his husband Chasten have adopted twins.
Kamala Harris has two stepchildren in her marriage to Doug Emhoff.
Mika Brzezinski also helped to troll JD on Tuesday’s episode of Morning Joe by bringing her cat “Blue” into the conversation.
