Virginia City, HAN officials denounce ‘hateful, racist’ incident at Hot August Nights event (updated)
A TikTok video went viral in the past 24 hours that shows a man making racist comments toward a Black man in Virginia City during a Hot August Nights event. The video is drawing international condemnation. The man documented the encounter on his smartphone in a video titled, “Racism at its best, Virginia City, Nevada.” The video shows a white man who allegedly made a comment at the Black man about “a hanging tree,” also calling him the N-word.
