During the bigly press conference from Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, Donald Trump claimed he went down in a helicopter with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, who Kamala Harris had previously dated.
“I know Willie Brown very well. In fact, I went down in a helicopter with him. We thought maybe this is the end. We were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing,” Trump told reporters.
Willie Brown has refuted (refutted? rebutted?) the whole story, stating he was never in a helicopter with Donald Trump, and he avidly supports Kamala Harris for President.
It turns out Trump is confusing Willie Brown with Governor Jerry Brown. In 2018, then-governor Brown, governor-elect Gavin Newsom, and Trump rode in a helicopter to survey wildfire damage in the Sierra Nevada foothills north of Sacramento. Newsom said that Trump repeatedly brought up the possibility of crashing, but the subject of Kamala Harris never came up.
The 2018 helicopter ride did become notorious for Trump who claimed the answer to solving California’s wildfire crisis was to rake the forest floors.
