Trump is once again trying to drag the nation into chaos for his own political gain, this time by calling on House Republicans to shut down the federal government on September 30. His reasoning? A supposed voter registration scheme involving “illegal aliens” that doesn’t actually exist.
Noncitizens cannot vote in federal elections, and no state allows noncitizens to vote in statewide elections. So perhaps Republicans are just too stupid to realize that Trump is using them to hurt the country and cause division and chaos.
Meanwhile, civil war is breaking out within the GQP over a continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government funded.
Marjorie Taylor Greene (remember her?) is hollering about Moses Mike Johnson’s attempt to attach the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) to the continuing resolution, which could cause poor Moses Mike to rely on Democrats again to get the resolution passed.
The Plot Thickens
Thomas Massie, Matt Rosendale, and Tim Burchett, have voiced opposition to Johnson’s plan. They favor the SAVE Act but refuse to vote for the CR.
Blah-blah-blah from Thomas Massie below.
Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer have called Johnson’s bluff, daring him to shut down the government just before the election.
