Kamala Harris spent Monday in the blue wall states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, in a town hall setting with former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, anti-Trump Republican, at her side.
The series of discussions were hosted by figures with a history of bipartisan coalitions, including Republican pollster and Bulwark publisher Sarah Longwell in Pennsylvania , conservative commentator Charlie Sykes in Wisconsin, and Maria Shriver, niece of JFK and former spouse of Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The message was aimed to appeal to white suburban women who vote Republican in a “Country Over Party” theme.
Every stop on the Harris-Cheney day tour included a question about abortion and reproductive rights, allowing Cheney – who is anti-abortion – to say Republican states banning the procedure were going too far.
In Chester County, Pennsylvania, Cheney said, “In this race, we have the opportunity to vote for and support somebody you can count on. We’re not always going to agree, but I know Vice President Harris will always do what she believes is right for this country. She has a sincere heart, and that’s why I’m honored to be in this place.”
In Waukesha County, Wisconsin, Harris asked, “Do we want a president of the United States who spends his full time plotting revenge while they sit in the Oval Office, or a president who is actually focused on the American people?”
And in Oakland County, Michigan:
Cheney reminded people that their votes are private…
Harris and Shriver discussed election anxiety…
And on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, VP candidate Tim Walz defended campaigning with the Cheneys…
