According to a new survey released on Sunday by Patriot Polling, Greenlanders approve of joining the U.S. by approximately 20 points.
According to the poll, 57.3 percent of respondents approve of Greenland becoming part of the U.S.
Just 37.4 percent disapproved of the potential acquisition and 5.3 percent are undecided about the move.
Patriot Polling, which receives only a one out of three star rating from FiveThirtyEight, noted that it’s the first time the group has conducted a poll outside of the U.S.
The survey was also conducted during Donald Trump Jr.’s visit to Greenland.
Greenland’s prime minister said Friday that the mineral-rich Arctic territory’s people don’t want to be Americans, but that he understands U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s interest in the island given its strategic location and he’s open to greater cooperation with Washington.
