Louisiana forbids public health workers from promoting COVID, flu and mpox shots
A group of high-level managers at the Louisiana Department of Health walked into a Nov. 14 meeting in Baton Rouge expecting to talk about outreach and community events.
Instead, they were told by an assistant secretary in the department and another official that department leadership had a new policy: Advertising or otherwise promoting the COVID, influenza or mpox vaccines, an established practice there — and at most other public health entities in the U.S. — must stop.

An Indiana man is sentenced to 130 years in prison for murdering 2 teenage girls
An Indiana man convicted in the 2017 killings of two teenage girls who vanished during a winter hike was sentenced to a maximum of 130 years in prison Friday in the case that’s long cast a shadow over the teens’ small hometown of Delphi.
A special judge sentenced Richard Allen during a hearing that began at 9 a.m. Allen, 52, was convicted on Nov. 11 in the killings of Abigail Williams, 13, and Liberty German, 14, known as Abby and Libby. A jury found him guilty of two counts of murder and two counts of murder while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping.

The firebrand conservative is seeking retribution after the House Ethics Committee secretly voted to release the results of an ethics investigation against him.
Some Republicans in Congress are now passing around a resolution to enact the revenge plan that former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz outlined this week, according to a new report.
Gaetz, 42, told the Daily Beast Wednesday that he was “seriously considering” a brief return to Congress before officially resigning to file a privileged resolution that would publicize the names of current and former legislators who used public funds to pay sexual harassment settlements. However, it appears his colleagues may simply do it for him.
