While the majority of Republican members on the House Judicial Committee focused their questions on their hand-picked darling, Jonathan Turley, Rep. Matt Gaetz (Idiot-Florida) decided to paint Professor Pamela Karlan as a liberal elite who is biased against conservatives.
Apparently, Prof. Karlan appeared on a panel for a podcast called, ‘Versus Trump’ and made some comment about how conservatives spread out geographically “because they don’t even want to be around themselves.” Gaetz took offense to her comments and mansplained to her that they “reflect contempt on people who are conservative.”
Prof. Karlan shot back at the pearl clutching and out of control Gaetz.
She explained she “was talking about there was the natural tendency, if you put the quote in context, the natural tendency of a compactness requirement to favor a party whose voters are more spread out.”
“And I do not have contempt for conservatives,” Karlan concluded.
Gaetz continued his attack and mansplained further to Professor Karlan that invoking Trump’s son into the discussion made her look “mean.” Earlier in the hearing, Prof. Karlan said the following:
“Contrary to what President Trump has said, Article 2 does not give him the power to do anything he wants, and I’ll just give you one example that shows you the difference between him and a king, which is, the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.”
Shortly after their exchange, Be Best tweeted expressing her feigned disgust.
Professor Karlan later apologized for bringing up Barron in one of her statements. Be Best’s tweet was read out loud during the hearing.
