Three people are charged with murder after a Family Dollar security guard was killed in Flint, Michigan, when enforcing the store policy to wear a face mask.
Two men remain at large and one woman has been arrested facing first degree premeditated murder.
The male suspects are 44-year-old Larry Edward Teague and 23-year-old Ramonyea Bishop. Teague’s wife and Bishop’s mother, 45-year-old Sharmel Teague, has been arrested.
The Genessee County prosecutor said that Sharmel Teague and her daughter went to the Flint Dollar Store on Friday. Teague was wearing a mask but her daughter was not. The 43-year-old security guard, Calvin Munerlyn, confronted the daughter about not wearing a mask, and an argument ensued about the store policy. Sharmel Teague spit at Munerlyn, who then ordered her to leave the store and told the cashier to refuse service to her.
Surveillance video showed Teague and the daughter leaving the store, and 20 minutes later returned with Larry Teague and Ramonyea Bishop. Cell phone records show a phone call from Sharmel Teague to Larry Teague in the minutes she was leaving the store. Larry Teague and Bishop argued with the security guard, and witnesses said they heard Teague ask who disrespected his wife. In the ensuing altercation, Bishop pulled out a gun and shot Munerlyn in the head.
First degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence with no chance for parole if convicted. Larry Teague and Bishop are also facing multiple weapons charges while Teague faces charges for violating Governor Whitmer’s order to wear a face covering in a public enclosed space.
