At News Views, we’re always trying something to get y’all out here talking. This week, I’ve presented an issue that pretty affects all of us. Whenever we turn on the news or click on a link we run the risk of encountering the real Fake News or a bunch of misinformation/Fake News. How do we combat it? Do we entertain the site by providing comments that contradict the message or Fake News the site is trying to convey? Do you just ignore it? Or…better yet, how do you engage with those that believe differently than you do?
I don’t really surf the web trolling Wing Nut ‘news’ sites; I just can’t. For me, it’s like banging my head against the wall hoping it won’t hurt but I know it will hurt and I’m just going to walk away with a major headache and pissed off.
Personally, I don’t have any wing nut friends or family members. We all think pretty much the same, although I’m probably the most liberal in my family, THANKS, POPS!!!! But, my family is pretty left leaning and my mother has either let some people in her life go because of their Trumpster beliefs or has told others not to discuss politics with her to save their friendship. My brother has now changed from and Independent to a member of the Democratic Party that he once was but has returned.
My father passed shortly after Trump was inaugurated and I know that my Pops would not have done well with Trump. Damn, he’s the one who turned me on to Barack Obama when Obama was a junior Senator from the South Side of Chicago and got me into reading his speeches and books.
So, how do you guys deal with the Wing Nuts in your life? Do you engage with them? Do you, like me, not want anything to do with them? Or, do you just hear them out? If you hear them out, how do your counter their beliefs or conspiracies?
So, your task, as the intelligent lot you are, is to discuss the dilemma. Answer any and all questions you want but share your ideas with your fellow News Viewers. How do you deal with the Fake News? The misinformation? The excessive force and some idiot calling it, ‘a good kill?’ Tell me how you handle all this crap.
