Happy Friday, News Viewers, coming to you from our nation’s capitol — I drove all day yesterday to DC to visit my oldest and his wife for Christmas — it was such a long drive I could have listened to Moby Dick twice if I were THAT masochistic. . .
But NO, instead, I’m just masochistic enough to find myself in the vicinity of the Capitol and the Supreme Court and an ocean of Republicans.
In fact, there actually has been an ocean of flooding in DC recently– is there a more perfect metaphor for this city? A flooded political cesspool full with filthy, contaminated bilge? A political “City on the Hill” covered with fetid floodwaters full of bacteria, parasites, protozoa, microbes, toxic chemicals, fish with three eyes, an oily film swirling. . . .
The seat of our Democracy, mowed and manicured on the outside (to the naked eye) is in reality a drowning contaminated environment, peopled by an absolutist party of bigots, theocrats, and soulless self-seekers who are governed, in essence, by fear.
We know we’re in trouble when a statement about “contaminated blood” elicits a tepid response like “that’s not helpful,” or when we fund human destruction over human rights. Yep, it’s been a rough week…….
