Three years after the January 6 attacks on the US Capitol, nearly half—or 46%—of
registered Republican voters are not confident that the nation’s ballots will be accurately counted
and reported in 2024, according to the latest Suffolk University/USA TODAY poll.
More than half of Donald Trump supporters (52%) said they lacked confidence that ballots will
be accurately tallied, an indication that unsubstantiated claims of a rigged 2020 election may
carry forward with Trump voters in the coming November 2024 election.

Florida man accused of threatening to kill Swalwell, lawmaker’s children
A Florida man is charged with threatening to kill Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and his children, according to the Justice Department (DOJ).
Swalwell was not named in the court documents, but his office confirmed to The Hill the lawmaker and his children were the target of the alleged threats.
Michael Shapiro, 72, on Dec. 19 left five voicemail messages for Swalwell at the California Democrat’s office in Washington, according to court documents. In one of the messages, Shapiro is accused of saying he was going to “come after you and kill you …” and in another message, he said he was going to “come and kill your children …”
Some calls appeared to reference a suspected Chinese spy, Christine Fang, who was accused of having links to Swalwell. Federal prosecutors said the calls included the word “Fang” multiple times and “Hey motherf‑‑‑er, you f‑‑‑ed a Chinese spy.”

More Republicans say Trump is person of faith than GOP challengers, Biden: Survey
More Republicans say former President Trump is a person of faith than several other Republican figures, his GOP primary challengers and President Biden, a new poll found.
In the survey, conducted by HarrisX for Deseret News, 64 percent of Republicans said Trump was a person of faith, up from 53 percent in October.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, an evangelical Christian, came in second with Republicans, with 56 percent calling him a man of faith.
