Donald Trump’s God Bless the USA Bibles were made in China, according to global trade records reviewed by the Associated Press, and cost $3 a pop.
Records show that 120,000 copies were shipped from China’s eastern city of Hangzhou between early February and late March. Three shipments were valued at $342,000, with the math showing each copy cost $3.
The Bibles are sold for a minimum of $59.99, with more math showing at least $7 million of potential sales revenue.
Trump sells copies with his signature for $1,000.
One version of the $59.99 Bible memorializes the July 13 assassination attempt ear scratch in Pennsylvania. Trump’s name is on the cover above the phrase, “The Day God Intervened.” The wording appears to have been stamped on after the Bible was produced.
Promoted as the only Bible endorsed by Trump, it includes copies of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and Pledge of Allegiance.
“I want to have a lot of people have it. You have to have it for your heart, for your soul. Many of you have never read them and don’t know the liberties and rights you have as Americans, and how you are being threatened to lose those rights; it’s happening all the time,” Trump wrote on Truth Social in March.
Trump has criticized China for years, blaming them for the Covid-19 virus outbreak, and slapping tariffs on Chinese imports, and recently is touting a 60% or more tariff on all goods from China.
