Police have arrested twenty-six year old Luigi Mangione in Altoona, PA, in connection with last week’s killing of a UnitedHealthcare insurance executive, Brian Thompson, in Midtown Manhattan that prompted a manhunt up and down the East Coast, the New York Police Department said. Police stated that Mangione had in his possession a ghost gun, silencer, and manifesto. An elderly patron and McDonald’s where police arrested Mangione recognized him from photos and called law enforcement.
In 2016, a Luigi Mangione was the valedictorian at Gilman School, a private all-boys institution in Baltimore. He gave a speech describing his class as “coming up with new ideas and challenging the world around it.” He thanked parents for sending them to the school, which he described as “far from a small financial investment.” Tuition at Gilman is currently $37,690 per year for high schoolers.
