After 30 years as an anchor at Fox News and Fox Business, Neil Cavuto has had enough.
Cavuto said he has been planning on leaving for “some time,” but apparently a recent contract offer was generous, but not enough to stay. He says he is not leaving journalism, but “leaving here.”
Cavuto has stood out as one of the few remaining Fox News anchors willing to forcefully fact-check and even criticize Trump. Being a business news anchor at heart, he felt it was his role to separate fact from fiction, especially when financial decisions were on the line.
- Cavuto landed at Fox in 1996, coming from CNBC, and ends his career there that included 12 hours of programming at Your World with Neil Cavuto and Cavuto Live, both on Fox News, and Cavuto: Coast to Coast on sister channel Fox Business Network.
- During his time at Fox, Cavuto has survived multiple health crises, including multiple sclerosis, open heart surgery, and a severe bout with Covid that left him hospitalized for weeks.
Some Fox viewers and Trump sycophants never forgave him after he cut away from a 2020 press conference by then-White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany because she was repeating baseless claims of voter fraud.

Several came forward to praise him following the news of his departure.
“I’ve always appreciated you. You call balls and strikes. You’re not a ‘yes-man.’ It’s an honor to be on your show,” The Hill editor-in-chief Bob Cusack said.
