Friday, Trump held a bigly press conference from the Rose Garden where he declared a national emergency because of the Coronavirus.
Now the Facts:
- Contrary to Trump’s claim, Google is not building a nationwide coronavirus screening website.
- Verily is building a triage website just for the Bay Area.
We are developing a tool to help triage individuals for Covid-19 testing. Verily is in the early stages of development, and planning to roll testing out in the Bay Area, with the hope of expanding more broadly over time. We appreciate the support of government officials and industry partners and thank the Google engineers who have volunteered to be part of this effort.
Trump lies his ass of regarding swine flu tests during the Obama administration:
- Trump criticized President Barack Obama’s administration for its handling of the swine flu (H1N1 virus) in 2009.
“If you go back to the swine flu, it was nothing like this,” Trump said. “They didn’t do testing like this. And actually they lost approximately 14,000 people and they didn’t do the testing. They started thinking about testing when it was far too late.”

Just the Facts, ma’am: Trump is wrong. The Obama administration/CDC “did focus on testing — conducting 5,000 tests in the first month and sending out a total of 1 million tests in the first five months of the outbreak.“
