Liveblog - In Case You Missed It: November 14, 2022

With so much going on in our world, we sometimes miss important issues. Please feel free to share any headlines or new developments we may have missed providing they come from reliable and credible sources.  If your news pertains to Putin’s war of choice in Ukraine, please do not parrot any Russian propaganda from far-right ‘news’ sources unless you’re trying to point out that the far-right extremist in our country and elsewhere actually believe their own BS or Russian disinformation.  We also will not except any parroted far-right BS regarding issues occurring here, at home. We also ask that you provide a link to your source so folks can read it if they want. Please do not make any claims that you cannot factually validate or verify.

Economy:

Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) is planning to lay off around 10,000 employees in corporate and technology roles beginning this week, a person familiar with the matter said on Monday, in what would amount to its biggest such reduction to date.

The cuts, earlier reported by the New York Times, would represent about 3% of Amazon’s corporate staff. The exact number may vary as businesses within Amazon review their priorities, the source told Reuters.

Craven Assholes:

Former Vice President Mike Pence said in an exclusive interview with ABC’s “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir that former President Donald Trump’s rhetoric was “reckless” as a mob of his supporters ransacked the Capitol last year — with Pence and others temporarily forced into hiding.

“I mean, the president’s words were reckless. It was clear he decided to be part of the problem,” Pence told Muir.

Pence said he was “angered” over a tweet from Trump as the insurrection unfolded, when the former president said he “didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done” after he rebuffed pressure to not certify now-President Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.

What’s happening: West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey is weighing a 2024 rematch against Sen. Joe Manchin.

In an interview with POLITICO, Morrisey said he’s “evaluating” all of his options and “looking very closely at the Senate race.”

“We have a lot of assets that we’d bring to bear. I’m a conservative doer, and we have a record of accomplishment that’s going to be very difficult for others to reach.”
