According to three people familiar with the incident, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross threatened to fire staff at NOAA for contradicting Trump’s tweet about Dorian’s path.
Both the White House and Ross’ oiffice refuse to comment on the matter.
Ross also forced the NOAA office in Birmingham to issue an unsigned statement reversing their own office’s position that Alabama was not at risk.
