GOP Begins to Circle the Wagons Around Nunes

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is defending Devin Nunes’ contact with players in the Ukraine shakedown after Democrats released the impeachment summary. The summary showed phone logs of Nunes speaking to key Trump associates Giuliani and Parnas while on committees investigating the Ukraine/Trump situation.

“There’s nothing wrong that Devin has done except once again to get accused of something,” McCarthy said of his fellow California Republican.

GOP ranking member Jim Jordan was also dismissive of the call logs.

“I don’t think there is anything wrong with talking to people on the phone,” the Ohio Republican said. “Lots of members of Congress have talked with Giuliani.”

In an interview with Sean Hannity, Nunes said he didn’t remember taking calls from random people when Hannity asked him if he had spoken with “Les Parnez or whatever his name is.”
