Liveblog - The Russia-Ukraine Conflict and In Case You Missed It: March 17, 2022

We will continue to combine both blogs, In Case You Missed It and the Russia-Ukraine Conflict. Please feel free to share any headlines we may have missed or new developments occurring in Ukraine or Russia providing they come from reliable and credible sources. We won’t accept any parroted, Russian propaganda from far-right ‘news’ sources unless you’re trying to point out that the far-right extremist in our country and elsewhere actually believe their own BS or Russian disinformation. We also ask that you provide a link to your source so folks can read it if they want.

Keep in mind, this is not a free chat. Please keep friendly banter to a minimum. We also ask that you discuss the day’s topics or events but not argue endlessly with others about them; agree to disagree and move on thank you.

Eight of the 10 states with the highest covid death rates adjusted for age have Republican governors: Mississippi, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Arizona, Arkansas and Indiana. (Nevada and Kentucky are the exceptions, coming in 6th and 10th, respectively.) Similarly, nine of the 10 states with the worst vaccination rates — Wyoming, Mississippi, Louisiana, Idaho, Indiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, West Virginia and North Dakota — have GOP governors. Of these, only Louisiana is led by a Democrat, and all of them voted for defeated former president Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020.
