Rand Paul Floats Elon Musk for Speaker of the House

Senator Rand Paul (Poodle-Ky) posted to X on Thursday a suggestion to replace Mike Johnson (Moses- La) as Speaker of the House with Elon Musk (Billionaire-S. Africa).

While Rand Paul resides in the wrong chamber to elect a new Speaker of the House, he has long been an advocate of slashing government spending, which seems to be Musk’s priority.

When Republicans admit that they don't care about government working or helping Americans, it's all about annoying the libs. What a petty, worthless agenda.

Trump and Musk on Thursday called for Republicans to reject a bipartisan agreement on a short-term spending bill.

In his first big flex of power on Capitol Hill, Elon Musk shitposted a bunch of misinformation to kill a bipartisan spending bill that would have averted a government shutdown, threatened reps supporting it, and demanded Congress stop working until Trump is in office. Awesome stuff

What followed appeared to be serious reserve among MAGAts to continue supporting Johnson as Speaker.

"We need to have a serious look at who's leading this Congress, because if this is the best they can do, it's complete incompetence. This is a disaster" — Josh Hawley suggests Mike Johnson needs to go

On Fox News Digital Thursday morning, Trump said Johnson will “easily remain speaker” if he “acts decisively and tough” and eliminates “all of the traps being set by Democrats” in the spending package.

Rep. Goldman: "It's not Donald Trump asking for this. It's very clearly President Elon Musk asking for this.

Included in the CR bill was a pay-raise for House members, which was distorted and amplified by Musk, misstating that the measure included a 40% pay increase.

FactCheck.org notes the inaccuracy, citing Congressional Research Service. The raise would amount to 3.8% in 2025, not 40%.

“The maximum potential January 2025 adjustment is 3.8%, which would result in a salary of $180,600, an increase of $6,600.”

Cute little tidbit about that congressional pay raise the MAGAs are all flipping out about….turns out it was the Republicans themselves that added it to the bill since they’re in the majority and it’s their bill after all….so MAGAs need to STFU and go yell at Republicans about adding all that "pork"
