With less than two weeks from when TFG’ NY criminal case begins, Judge Juan M. Merchan has denied TFG’s last ditch effort to delay the trial by claiming ‘presidential immunity.’ Judge Merchan wants to move this case forward and not wait for the Extreme Court to hear arguments on the issue this month but might not rule until June.
He denied Mr. Trump’s effort as “untimely,” ruling that he failed to request the delay by a legal deadline.
Mr. Trump’s delay effort was his latest bid to push back his four criminal cases, which are unfolding against the backdrop of his campaign to regain the White House. If Mr. Trump can stall the cases until Election Day, and he wins the presidency, they would likely grind to a halt.
